About the Author

Matt Peach started writing about coffee six years ago. Each week thousands of people enjoy Matt’s commentaries explaining coffee and its history. A life long aficionado of coffee, he became a writer and author about it in a roundabout way.

Prior to 2001 Matt wrote resource guides and instructional manuals in addition to developing and delivering training programs for AT&T. Matt decided to combine his interest in having his own business with his life long love of coffee. In 2001 he left the corporate world and founded Shenandoah Blue Ridge Media, LLC, initially acquiring licenses to publish three separate editions of Coffee News in Central Virginia. Distributing the publications through coffeehouses and restaurants, Matt soon realized that many readers desire more specific information about the subject of coffee. So, he started writing short articles about the different aspects of coffee to be included in his weekly publications.

As Matt received positive feedback from his readers who love the weekly coffee columns, he did further research about the whole subject. It was not long before he realized that there is a need for an informative guide that covers coffee, coffee drinks and coffeehouses. Drawing upon his extensive training experience coupled with his expanded knowledge of coffee, he authored this first book. He chose a field guide format as a way of explaining all the various aspects of coffee and the influence it has on our lives in a useful, yet entertaining format. He hopes you, the reader, agree!
